On June 3-4, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with the Ambassador to Paris, Director-General of the International Economic Affairs Department, and Director of the International Cooperation Strategy and Coordination Division, NESDC Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NESDC attended the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting 2025 (MCM 2025) under the theme “Leading the way toward resilient, inclusive, and sustainable prosperity through rules-based trade, investment and innovation” at OECD headquarters in Paris, France. This marked Thailand’s first participation as a country in the OECD accession process.<\/p>\n\n
The MCM 2025 discussed key policy issues including the economic situation in OECD countries and the global economy, international trade, inclusive and sustainable development, OECD membership expansion, digital economy development, and governance<\/a> of artificial intelligence. On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs presented Thailand’s initiatives in green transition investment and digital economy investment promotion, while expressing commitment to raising standards toward OECD membership by 2030.<\/p>\n\n During this occasion, NESDC participated in the Coordinator Meeting with countries in the OECD accession process to present Thailand’s progress and status in the OECD accession process, and to exchange experiences and receive recommendations from the OECD and other countries for improving Thailand’s membership accession mechanisms in the next phase.<\/p>\n\n Additionally, NESDC participated in bilateral discussions with Ambassador Ana Sanchez, Peru’s High Representative for OECD Accession Process<\/a>, and bilateral discussions with Ambassador Sangdae Choi, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the OECD, to exchange best practices regarding OECD membership accession mechanisms, such as establishing domestic driving mechanisms, setting up coordination mechanisms in Paris, raising public awareness, conducting Technical Reviews, and approaches to elevating national standards to align with OECD standards.<\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n
