Bilateral Meeting between Thailand and OECD

On July 17, 2023, Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council, along with Mr. Wanchat Suwankitti, Deputy Secretary-General, and the Thai delegation participated in a bilateral meeting between Thailand and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to follow up on the progress of the Country Programme (CP) Phase 2 between the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the OECD at the OECD Headquarters in Paris, French Republic.
The NESDC, as the main agency overseeing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the overall CP Phase 2 project, is a 3-year cooperation (2023-2025) comprising 20 sub-projects. This will promote the country’s potential and enhance competitiveness, while accessing OECD’s knowledge and best practices to drive further economic and social development of the country.

During this occasion, the Secretary-General of NESDC The Thai executives and officials held discussions and exchanged views with Mr. Alexander Bohmer, Head of Division, South Asia-Southeast Asia, Global Relations and Cooperation Directorate (GRC), and OECD staff regarding the progress of CP Phase 2 implementation, Thailand’s readiness and suitability for OECD membership, support for academic knowledge and recommendations on various processes. This helps Thailand understand the guidelines and processes for considering new members and can more effectively prepare for the process of becoming a member in the future.
