Malaysian Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Meets with Minister of Finance and Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council

On April 22, 2022, Dato Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed, Malaysian Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy), met with Mr. Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister of Finance, together with Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of the National Economic and Social Development Council, at the Ministry of Finance. Both parties discussed and followed up on the progress of various projects during the occasion of the Malaysian Prime Minister’s official visit to Thailand and discussions with General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister, on February 25, 2022, including the Sadao-Bukit Kayu Hitam connecting road project, the Satun-Perlis connectivity study project, and the construction of both Golok River bridges. They also discussed the development of the Thai-Malaysian border area under the Joint Development Scheme (JDS) cooperation and cooperation under the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) development program to promote cooperation in customs, immigration, and quarantine to facilitate cross-border movement of goods and people (FoC in CIQ). Both parties aim to drive infrastructure development cooperation between Thailand and Malaysia to accelerate concrete economic recovery in the border areas. On this occasion, the Minister of Finance, in his capacity as Thailand’s IMT-GT ministerial representative, invited Dato Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed to participate in the 28th IMT-GT Ministerial Meeting in September 2022 in Phuket Province.
