Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of NESDC, and Mr. Woo Tong Ki, Chairman of the Presidential Committee for Decentralization and Balanced Development of the Republic of Korea (PCDBD), jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Presidential Committee for Decentralization and Balanced Development of the Republic of Korea on Balanced National Development on November 14, 2024, in Seoul, Republic of Korea
This Memorandum of Understanding will serve as a framework for academic cooperation on issues of mutual interest and knowledge sharing regarding sustainable and inclusive regional development planning. It also aims to promote development cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through collaboration in three main areas: (1) reducing regional disparities through sustainable approaches, (2) urban development planning, and (3) urban-rural linkages
Moving forward, both parties aim to implement mutually beneficial activities, including workshops for information and knowledge exchange on policy formulation, staff exchanges for temporary secondment, collaboration between experts and officials, as well as development network partners from both sides, and other related activities
The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding represents a significant milestone for NESDC in establishing knowledge networks with the Republic of Korea, providing opportunities to enhance staff knowledge capacity, learn best practices in policy design and national development planning, as well as learn best practices for upgrading standards to support Thailand’s OECD membership
