On December 16, 2024, Mr. Thatchai Keerapongpaiboon, Director of International Strategy and Cooperation Division, NESDC in his capacity as Thailand’s Senior Official, attended the 25th CIMT Advisory Committee Meeting 2024 (25th CIMT Advisory Committee Meeting 2024) via video conference, with Dato’ Dr. Zunika binti Mohamad , Deputy Secretary General of Policy, Ministry of Economy, Malaysia’s Senior Official, chairing the meeting, and Mr. Bobby Chris Siagian, Assistant Minister for Regional Economic Cooperation, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Indonesia’s Senior Official, along with relevant officials in attendance
The meeting aimed to provide guidance on operational approaches and organizational management of the IMT-GT Centre for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT). The meeting acknowledged CIMT’s operational and budget implementation reports for 2024 and discussed the work plan and budget allocation for 2025. The focus was on promoting subregional economic development in alignment with regional and global directions and key issues, considering IMT-GT subregional development goals to become an integrated, innovation-driven, equitable, and sustainable subregion according to the IMT-GT Vision 2036
Additionally, the meeting discussed the review of CIMT policies and practices, emphasizing the improvement of internal regulations to comply with laws and align with other international organizations’ practices. This aims to ensure continuous and more efficient operations, which will enhance transparency and confidence in future collaborations
This meeting served as a review of operations in 2024 and established clearer operational directions for 2025, enabling CIMT to achieve its set goals and create beneficial and sustainable outcomes for long-term IMT-GT subregional development
