On August 14, 2024, Mr. Danucha Pichayanan, Secretary-General of NESDC welcomed Mr. Remco Johannes van Wijngaarden, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Thailand for discussions on economic development and international cooperation, including Thailand’s progress in becoming an OECD member, which is expected to be completed by 2030.
During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on various issues including macroeconomic development, infrastructure and logistics system enhancement, technological transition, green economy transition to address climate change, automotive and electric vehicle industries, trade and investment promotion, sustainable tourism promotion, and addressing potential multi-dimensional challenges.
The Secretary-General of NESDC The discussion also covered Thailand’s Roadmap for the OECD Accession Process,
which was approved by the OECD Council on July 10, 2024. Thailand is currently implementing the requirements outlined in the Accession Roadmap and expects to complete all necessary steps to become a full member by 2030.
The support from OECD member countries, including the Netherlands, is crucial in both technical and policy aspects. Both parties agreed to strengthen their cooperation to further advance the development of both kingdoms.
