Background and Principles
Halal Products & Services is one of the three leading sectors in the IMT-GT work plan. It focuses on cooperation in increasing the number of comprehensive certifications for halal economic activities, as well as developing the potential of personnel in the halal business to support its growth and export capabilities to promote access to halal products. The key objectives include elevating trade and investment in halal goods and services, while supporting cooperation in creating joint halal standards to generate economic and trade opportunities.

Recent Progress
Currently, operations under the Strategic Halal Industry Collaboration Task Force are ongoing to serve as a mechanism for developing trade and investment in the halal industry. Additionally, there is ongoing collaborative work to develop the Halal Route project to strengthen the connectivity of small, medium, and micro enterprises in the halal sector across all three countries. Progress is being monitored in the certification of halal food, products, and services standards to help drive the halal industry in IMT-GT towards global market acceptance.
